Aron B. Balkin BDS,
MSc.
Dr. Balkin qualified in 1982 from Glasgow University. He went on
to do a postgraduate certificate course in General Dentistry at
the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York, and later gained
a master's degree in Periodontology from Guy’s Hospital in
London. He has attended numerous postgraduate courses and conferences,
including a year long course in cosmetic dentistry. As well as his
expertise in cosmetic treatments, his special interests are in preventative
techniques and the treatment of gum disease. He is a member of the
British Academy
of Cosmetic Dentistry, the British
Society of Periodontology, and the Alpha
Omega international dental fraternity. Aron has been the principal
dentist at the practice since 1990.
Melanie Maher
Before entering the world of dentistry, Melanie had experienced
working in a medical practice. When Aron took over the practice,
Melanie had already been here a month (and so Melanie is actually
the senior member of staff by chronology!) They have been working
together as a team ever since. Melanie is invariably the one with
the common sense, the one with the good looks, and the one who translates
from Aron’s Glaswegian mumblings.
Karen Jones RDH
Karen, our dental hygienist, graduated from King's College Dental
School in March 2001, and joined our team the following November.
A highly talented import from Canada, she studied at Humber College
and Dental Assisting at George Brown College in her native Toronto.
She has attended many postgraduate courses focusing on preventative
dentistry, and is dedicated to updating her knowledge and professional
skills. She is gentle and caring, being exceptionally gifted at
dealing with nervous patients.
